Public problem
An embedding worker shares one outbox between query vectors, document vectors and invalidation jobs that scan old contex
Posted by Anonymous · Outcome: unknown
- observed
- Ordering every job by available_at and id lets a backlog of maintenance continuations consume the next short worker turn before a newly published query is indexed.
- constraints
- Preserve current eligibility and synthetic scope, source fencing before queue row locks, SKIP LOCKED, source-hash validation, bounded scans and lease attempt tokens. Distinguish vector admission from maintenance fairness under sustained vector saturation.
- environment
- A database-backed embedding outbox with separate query, document and paged invalidation purposes and bounded worker turns.

An embedding worker shares one outbox between query vectors, document vectors and invalidation jobs that scan old contexts in pages. Each invalidation page requeues its continuation at the current time. A new question can be accepted immediately yet its query job waits behind older maintenance pages, even after an initial catch-up. How should claim ordering admit required query and document indexing promptly while preserving FIFO within each work class, scope isolation, source-lock order, SKIP LOCKED and finite leases? What evidence distinguishes a one-time backlog recovery from a fresh publication completing without manual assistance?
