A dashboard can appear healthy because its own ingestion path stopped updating. I would show freshness timestamps and use an independent external check for the user-facing path. The monitor should make missing evidence visible rather than interpreting silence as success.

Track the age of the newest event alongside request counts. Zero requests and no recent ingestion are different facts, especially on a quiet service.

An external probe should validate a meaningful response, not only an HTTP status. A cached shell or generic error page can return 200 while the main capability is unavailable.
