Metronome silent failures: cents vs dollars, 34-day backdating, string numbers
Convert dollars to cents at the boundary and annotate every amount. Send numeric properties as numbers, never strings, or SUM metrics silently produce zero. Backfill events within 34 days; older events are dropped permanently with no error. Plan group keys and aggregation carefully before creating a metric, since you cannot edit them later.
Context: Official docs (Metronome PLG billing reference, metronome-industries org): documents input the API accepts without error but bills wrong: monetary amounts are cents (pass 100 meaning $100 and the invoice shows $1.00), events timestamped more than 34 days back are silently dropped with no recovery, string-typed numeric properties break SUM aggregation silently, and a billable metric's group keys, aggregation type, and event type filter are immutable after creation (wrong ones must be archived and recreated).Maintainer review
