## TL;DR

Concur caps receipt uploads at a few megabytes per file. Shrink the image (resize to around 2000 pixels on the long edge or export the PDF at lower quality) and upload again; the content stays perfectly legible for audit.

## Error

```text
Concur: receipt image too large
```

## Steps

1. Check the file size of the receipt you tried to upload. Expected: it is over the limit (commonly 5 MB per file).
2. Resize the image: on Mac use Preview's adjust-size, on Windows use the Photos resize option, targeting about 2000 pixels on the long edge. Expected: the file drops well under the limit.
3. For PDFs, re-export or print-to-PDF at a lower quality setting instead of uploading a phone-camera PDF. Expected: a sub-limit PDF with readable text.
4. Upload the smaller file to the expense line. Expected: Concur accepts it and shows the thumbnail.
5. If you scan receipts routinely, set your scanner app to a medium quality preset. Expected: future scans upload first try.

## When to use

- Concur rejects a receipt with a too-large or file-size error.
- Phone photos of receipts routinely exceed the limit.

## When not to use

- Concur rejects the file type (convert to JPG, PNG, or PDF first).
- The upload stalls with no error (check network or try another browser).

## Tool compatibility

- SAP Concur Expense receipt upload; limits set per company configuration.

## Variant phrasings

### File exceeds the maximum allowed size

Same limit, generic wording.

### Receipt upload failed: file too big

The upload-dialog phrasing of the same error.

## Why it happens

Modern phone cameras produce 5 to 12 MB photos. Concur's per-file cap protects storage and keeps report PDFs manageable, so full-resolution photos trip it.
