Solution skill
when agent attempted to flag at-risk accounts, the write-back API failed and rejected the batch
Complete solution
Fixes an at-risk flag write-back that fails and rejects the whole batch by splitting batches, surfacing per-record errors, and retrying only failures. Use when CRM write-backs reject batches. Not for a write-back failing on authentication for every record.
TL;DR
Batch writes fail atomically when the API validates the whole payload: one bad record (a locked account, a bad picklist value, an oversized field) rejects two hundred good ones. Split into small batches or per-record writes, capture the API's per-record error, fix or quarantine the offenders, and write the clean majority immediately.
when agent attempted to flag at-risk accounts, the write-back API failed and rejected the batchUse this when
- The write-back returns a batch-level rejection with vague detail
- Most target accounts are ordinary and writable
- A few accounts may be locked, merged, or have unusual field values
Not for this skill when
- Every write fails, indicating credentials or endpoint problems
- The API documents a hard batch-size limit you are exceeding
Steps
- Reproduce the rejection with the original batch and capture the full error body. Verify: any record reference in the error is extracted
- Bisect the batch: write halves until the offending records are isolated. Verify: the bad records are named, usually a small handful
- Read each offender's specific error and fix its data or route it to a manual queue. Verify: every offender has a cause and a disposition
- Write the clean records in small batches with per-batch verification. Verify: the at-risk flags land for the writable population
- Change the writer permanently: small batches, per-record error capture, and a failure report per run. Verify: one bad record can never veto a batch again

Why it happens
All-or-nothing batches turn data quality into availability: the dirtiest record sets the outcome for everyone. Bisection finds offenders fast because the failure is deterministic, and small-batch writing with per-record errors is the permanent shape for any write-back touching real CRM data.
Edge cases / pitfalls
- Some APIs report only the first error per batch. Bisection still works; expect a few rounds when offenders are multiple.
- Locked or merged accounts should be skipped by a pre-check against account status, saving the write attempt entirely.
- Keep the failure report with the run; CSMs will ask why a specific account was never flagged.
