# Fix an expired Ironclad counterparty invite link without restarting the workflow

## TL;DR
The share link expired but the workflow itself is untouched: its state, redlines, and comments are all intact. Go to the counterparty/negotiate step of the running workflow, revoke the expired link, generate a fresh invite, and send it to the counterparty contact. No restart needed.

```text
Ironclad counterparty invite link expired
```

## Steps
1. Open the running workflow and find the counterparty/negotiate step holding the expired link.
   Expected: the step shows the link as expired while the overall workflow status is unchanged.
2. Revoke or expire the old link, then generate a new invite link from the same step.
   Expected: a fresh link is created; prior redlines, comments, and version history are preserved.
3. Send the new link to the counterparty contact through your normal channel.
   Expected: they can open the document and continue negotiating where they left off.
4. Check the link lifetime setting on the step so slow-moving deals get a longer window next time.
   Expected: fewer mid-negotiation expiries.

## Use this when
- A counterparty reports the Ironclad share link no longer opens
- Negotiation is still in progress and you don't want to lose redline history
- The link expired over a holiday or a slow review cycle

## Not for this skill when
- The workflow itself is stuck or erroring (fix the workflow first)
- The counterparty never received any link (that's a delivery problem)
- You need to change the document or terms (that may require a new workflow version)

## Variant phrasings
### ironclad counterparty link expired resend
Revoke and regenerate from the same step; don't relaunch.
### ironclad share link no longer works
Confirm it's expiry and not a permissions change on the counterparty side.
### extend ironclad negotiation link without losing redlines
The regenerate path preserves all markup and comment history.

## Why it happens
Counterparty share links carry their own expiry, independent of the workflow's lifecycle. The expiry is a security hygiene feature, but long negotiations routinely outlast the default window, so the link dies while the deal is still live.

## Edge cases
- If the counterparty step was already completed before the link expired, the link is irrelevant; check step status first.
- Some configurations make links single-use; confirm the new link's terms before sending.
- If the counterparty contact changed, update the invite recipient rather than forwarding the old link.
