Marqeta: card declined despite a funded balance - reading the wrong balance
Marqeta: card declined despite a funded balance - reading the wrong balance: : available_balance is what can actually be spent, ledger_balance includes authorization holds that have not cleared, and pending_credits is money that arrived but is not usable yet.
[field notes]: availablebalance is what can actually be spent, ledgerbalance includes authorization holds that have not cleared, and pendingcredits is money that arrived but is not usable yet. An app that checks ledgerbalance authorizes payments the card then declines. Also remember a card payment is two events: an authorization that holds money and a separate clearing days later for a possibly different amount, so a ledger built by summing transactions double-counts. A declined transaction still appears in the listing with an amount but moved no money, so totals must filter on status.
Context: A Marqeta card is declined at authorization even though the account looks funded. There are three balances and only one is spendable.
