The .NET `GetVariable` method takes a variable key and a fallback value. It returns the matching variable’s value, or the fallback when the key is absent. Choose a fallback that fits the consuming code and safe application behavior.

For example, `flag.GetVariable("banner_text", "Welcome")` uses `"Welcome"` when that flag has no `banner_text` variable. Check the absent-key case and a configured-key case in your installed SDK version. The checked method returns `object`; it does not validate that a configured value matches the fallback’s type. This method alone does not establish a fallback guarantee for every SDK or network failure.
