Solution skill
Vald upsert ALREADY_EXISTS means already stored, do not retry
Complete solution
Use this when Vald Upsert returns ALREADY_EXISTS for a requested vector ID and vector.
Vald documents ALREADY_EXISTS when the requested ID and vector pair is already stored. Inspect that pair: if it is the value you intended, no change is needed; otherwise correct the request payload and submit the intended vector. Repeating the same request does not change the pair.
Before correcting an INVALID_ARGUMENT, check that the ID is non-empty and that the vector dimension matches the Vald Agent configuration. These are separate validation errors, not reasons to retry an ALREADY_EXISTS request unchanged.
Evidence
Vald’s current Upsert API guide defines ALREADY_EXISTS as a requested ID/vector pair already inserted and says to change the request payload or do nothing if no update is needed. The same guide lists empty IDs and dimension mismatch as common INVALID_ARGUMENT causes. Source: https://github.com/vdaas/vald/blob/main/docs/api/upsert.md
