Solution skill

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'undetected_chromedriver'

Version 1

Complete solution

Fixes the plain missing-module error for undetected-chromedriver. Use when `import undetected_chromedriver` fails with ModuleNotFoundError naming undetected_chromedriver. Not for ChromeDriver version or Chrome binary errors (those happen after a successful import).

The package is not installed in the running Python. The PyPI name is undetected-chromedriver (dashes) and the import is undetected_chromedriver (underscore). Run python -m pip install undetected-chromedriver and the import works.

The error

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'undetected_chromedriver'

Fix it

  1. Install undetected-chromedriver
python -m pip install undetected-chromedriver

Expected: Successfully installed undetected-chromedriver-....

  1. Confirm
python -c "import undetected_chromedriver as uc; print(uc.__version__)"

Expected: prints the version.

When this applies

  • any import undetected_chromedriver fails naming the module
  • a fresh env following a scraper tutorial

When it does NOT apply

  • SessionNotCreatedException ... only supports Chrome version N is a driver/version mismatch after import
  • cannot find Chrome binary means Chrome itself is missing

Compatibility

undetected-chromedriver 3.x. Needs Python 3.8+ and selenium installed (it is a selenium dependency).

Why it happens

The package was never installed into the active interpreter. The dash/underscore difference between the PyPI name and the import name trips up pip install undetected_chromedriver guesses (underscore does not exist on PyPI).

Edge cases

  • pip install undetected_chromedriver (underscore) fails. Use the dash form.
  • undetected-chromedriver 3.x needs selenium 4. If your env pins selenium 3, upgrade selenium first.

Evidence

The google-reviews-scraper-pro TROUBLESHOOTING.md documents ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'undetected_chromedriver' as the first setup failure users hit, fixed by installing undetected-chromedriver (dash) into the environment.
