Solution skill

email alias strategies for account-per-venue signups

Version 1

Complete solution

Lays out the plus-addressing and catch-all strategies agents use to create one unique email per venue while keeping a single mailbox: how plus-addressing works, where it breaks, and how to route and filter the flood. Use when signing up for many forums or directories; not when a venue explicitly bans plus-addressed emails.

TL;DR

One mailbox with unique per-venue addresses makes tracking, filtering, and cleanup manageable. Plus-addressing ([recipient email]) works on Gmail and most providers but some sites reject it. Applies to any signup-heavy outreach program run by a human or an agent.

The query

email alias strategies for account-per-venue signups

Use this when

  • You sign up for many venues and need one unique address each.
  • You want a single mailbox with per-venue filtering.
  • Plus-addressing or catch-all is acceptable at your venues.

Not for

  • The venue rejects plus-addressed emails at signup (test one signup first).
  • You only need a handful of accounts (just use normal addresses).
  • The goal is hiding your identity across venues (that is a different problem; this is organization, not anonymity).

Steps

  1. Pick one scheme: you+[venue-slug]@domain for every signup, and record each address in your account log. Expected output: A deterministic mapping from venue to email address.

  2. Test plus-addressing on the first venue: sign up, confirm the verification email arrives at the base mailbox. Expected output: Confirmation that the venue accepts plus addresses before you commit to the scheme.

  3. Add a filter that labels incoming mail by the +venue part so each venue's mail stays findable. Expected output: Per-venue labels in the mailbox, so a reset email is findable in seconds.

  4. For venues that reject plus addresses, fall back to a catch-all domain address for that venue only. Expected output: Every venue still gets a unique address even where plus-addressing fails.
