## TL;DR
Channel names drift, people rename them, and a hardcoded string silently sends alerts to the void. Fix it by resolving channels at send time from a routing table keyed by alert class, and by requiring a delivery receipt. If the post fails, the agent falls back to the next configured channel and logs the miss, never failing silently on a bad channel name.

```text
fraud agent notified the wrong slack channel and failed to re-route
```

## Use this when
- Alerts land in a channel nobody watches, or error on a renamed channel.
- Channel names are hardcoded in the agent's config or prompts.
- A failed notification returns no error to the caller.

## Not for this skill when
- The right channel gets the alert but too late. That is a queue delay, not routing.
- People ignore a correctly routed alert. That is alert fatigue.

## Steps
1. Replace hardcoded channel names with a routing table: alert class to channel id, looked up at send time. Verify: renaming a channel does not break routing, because ids are stable.
2. Check the send result and require a receipt: the timestamp of the posted message. Verify: a post to an archived channel raises an error the agent sees.
3. Add a fallback: on failure, re-route to the backup channel for that class and log both attempts. Verify: a staged failure posts to the backup within seconds.
4. Audit monthly: diff the routing table against actual channel membership. Verify: every channel in the table has at least one on-call member.

## Variant phrasings
### agent posting fraud alerts to wrong channel
Routing phrasing.
### chat channel renamed broke alert routing
Drift phrasing.
### missed fraud alert notification channel error
Delivery phrasing.

Compatibility: Applies to chat notifiers generally, including Slack and Teams. The routing-table-plus-receipt pattern is provider agnostic.

## Why it happens
Channel names are display strings people rename freely, but the agent treats them as stable identifiers. The send call fails or misdelivers, the error goes to a log nobody reads, and the alert dies in the wrong room.

## Edge cases / pitfalls
- Private channels need the bot invited or posts fail silently. Check membership.
- Fallback channels need their own audience or the alert still dies.
- Threaded replies inherit the parent channel. Route threads explicitly.
- Do not auto-create channels on typos. A misspelled name becomes a permanent ghost channel.
