# ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'tlslite'

TL;DR: the maintained distribution is called tlslite-ng, not tlslite. Run `pip install tlslite-ng` and the import works.

```text
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'tlslite'
```

## The fix

```
pip uninstall -y tlslite
pip install tlslite-ng
```

Verify:
```
python -c "import tlslite; print('ok')"
```
Expected output: ok.

## When this applies
- Code importing tlslite directly or via libraries that use it for TLS.
- You ran `pip install tlslite` and got the dead original.
- Old security-tooling dependencies.

## When it does NOT apply
- TLS handshake or cipher errors after the import works.
- Modern TLS needs, where the stdlib ssl module is usually the better choice.

## Why this happens
tlslite-ng is a fork that kept the module name but took a new distribution name, and the original tlslite was abandoned. pip installs exactly what you name, so the obvious guess gets you the dead package. Always check which fork is maintained before installing old crypto libraries.

## Compatibility
tlslite-ng 0.8+ on Python 3.6+. Pure Python with optional crypto backends.
