## TL;DR
urlscan queues are public and variable: a submission can wait far longer than a triage run can afford, and a report step that blocks on it inherits the whole queue delay. Submit early in the workflow, not at report time, poll with a deadline, and let the report ship with the scan marked pending and a reference, updating the case when the result lands. For urgent verdicts, keep a second analyser as fallback.

urlscan.io submission stuck in queue and the triage agent's report timed out
```
## Use this when
- Reports are delayed hours by one urlscan submission in a pending state.
- The agent run times out at the reporting step.
## Not for this skill when
- The submission was rejected as invalid or private. That needs a submission fix, not patience.
- The URL is internal and should never go to a public scanner. Route it to internal analysis instead.
## Steps
1. Move submission to the start of URL triage, storing the submission identifier with the case immediately. Verify: submission time no longer sits on the report path.
2. Poll for the result during the run with a deadline; on deadline, mark the scan pending with its reference and continue. Verify: a stuck scan cannot block the run past the deadline.
3. Add a completion watcher that attaches late urlscan results to the case and triggers follow-up if the verdict is malicious. Verify: late results still change outcomes.
4. Configure a fallback: if a verdict is needed urgently, submit to the sandbox detonation you control in parallel. Verify: urgent items have two independent paths.
5. Run a report cycle during a busy scanner period. Verify: the report ships on time with pending scans clearly marked.
## Variant phrasings
### urlscan submission pending report timeout agent
The pending submission variant.
### triage report blocked waiting external scanner fallback
The fallback variant.
Compatibility: urlscan.io submission and result APIs, agent report workflows.
## Why it happens
Public scanning services are shared infrastructure with shared queues. Treating one as a synchronous dependency couples your incident timeline to strangers traffic, which is worst exactly during big campaigns when everyone submits at once.
## Edge cases / pitfalls
- Never submit URLs containing live session parameters or internal addresses to public scanners. They publish results.
- A scan reference URL is itself evidence; include it in the case even when the verdict is pending.
- Rate your own submissions during campaigns; bulk submissions deepen the queue you are complaining about.
