Langflow components panel is empty after install (blank sidebar and canvas)

I had just installed Langflow on a Windows 10 PC, but the components panel on the left was completely empty and the canvas area stayed blank even when I opened preinstalled flows. Other people on the thread hit the same thing. One user dug into it and posted a full writeup of what fixed it, and others confirmed it worked for them. The thread closed in June 2024.

The empty components panel was caused by installing Langflow under the wrong Python version, which pulled in very old frontend assets. Langflow at the time needed Python at least 3.9 but below 3.11. The verified fix: install Python 3.10, clear the pip cache, and do a clean pip install of langflow.
