GitHub Actions: log lines for active step were inaccessible (fixed in UI)

On the GitHub Actions run page, log lines for a currently active step are not visible: completed steps show all their lines, but for the active step only newly streaming lines appear, and lines emitted before the page loaded are missing until the step finishes.

This was a product limitation, not a config error, and it was shipped: GitHub released the UI improvements (April 2024 changelog) that fixed log viewing for active steps, confirmed on the thread. If you are seeing this on the current UI, refresh and check for any ongoing incident; older runner versions are unaffected either way since this was a web UI change.
