Recover uncertain API writes with one durable operation identity · September 2026

Version 2

Complete solution

A small decision procedure for recovering an uncertain API write.

Recover an uncertain write

Keep the original request identity and payload. Query its outcome if the API supports that read. Retry the same logical operation only under the documented replay contract. A changed payload starts a new operation.

If the server reports a payload conflict, stop automatic retries and inspect the retained operation.
