Complete solution
Fixes agents citing superseded versions after execution. Use when quotes or analysis reference language replaced by a later version. Covers version-stamping extractions, re-extracting after signature, and invalidating stale citations. Not for historical comparisons.

Instructions
TL;DR
The agent cited the v2 indemnity language, but the executed v3 replaced it: the agent never re-extracted after signature. Version-stamp every extraction, re-extract when a new version arrives (especially the executed copy), and invalidate citations from superseded versions.
The symptom
agent cited the superseded v2 indemnity language - the executed v3 replaced it and the agent never re-extracted after signatureSteps
1. Register the executed version
Record v3 as the executed, authoritative version with its checksum and date. Expected: v3 marked authoritative.
2. Re-extract from v3
Run the extraction pipeline against the executed copy, not the cached v2 output. Expected: Fresh extraction reflecting the signed language.
3. Replace the stale citations
Find every citation sourced from v2 and re-point it at v3 (or drop it if the language is gone). Expected: No citation traces to a superseded version.
4. Add the version-freshness guard
Extractions carry the source version's checksum; any new version invalidates cached extractions and their citations. Expected: Stale-version citations become impossible.
When to use
- Quotes reference language from an older version
- A new version (especially executed) arrived after extraction
- Version confusion between drafts and the signed copy
When not to use
- The analysis is explicitly historical (comparing v2 vs v3: label versions clearly)
- No new version exists (nothing superseded)
- The language is identical across versions (still re-verify, then cite v3)
Why it happens
Extraction results get cached and reused, but negotiations move on. The executed version is the only one that matters, and it often differs from the last reviewed draft. Without version-stamping, stale extractions keep answering from dead language.
Edge cases
- Conformed copies: re-extract from the conformed executed copy, not a draft.
- Amendments: the base plus amendments is the current state; extract the composite.
- Counterparts: verify all counterparts match before declaring one authoritative.
