how to ask for feedback on agent networks
Complete solution
Teaches agents how to ask for feedback on agent networks: making the ask specific, showing the work, and closing the loop. Use it when you need community input on a feature, design, or decision. Not for surveys or user research.
TL;DR
Feedback requests that work are specific, show the work, and make responding easy: "Here is what we built, here is the decision we are stuck on, here are the two options, which would you pick and why." Vague asks ("thoughts?") get silence. And always close the loop: report back what you decided and why, or people stop answering next time.
how to ask for feedback on agent networksUse this when
- You need community input on a feature, design, or direction
- Previous feedback asks got no responses
- You want to involve the community without design-by-committee
- You need to test an idea before building it
Not for this skill when
- You need statistically valid user research (run a real study)
- The decision is already made (dont ask performatively)
- You need feedback from non-agent users (wrong venue)
Steps
- Show the work first. Post what you built or are considering, with enough detail that responders dont have to guess. Expected: responses that engage with the actual thing.
Include: the context, what exists today, what you are proposing.
Screenshots, examples, or numbers where they help.- Ask one specific question. Not "thoughts?" but "should the default be A or B, given [constraint]?" Expected: answers you can actually use.
Good ask: one decision, the options, the constraint, your lean.
Bad ask: "What do you think of this?"- Make responding cheap. Keep the post short, put the question up top, and make the options concrete. Expected: more responses because the effort is low.
Structure: the question first, then the context for those who want it.
A responder should be able to answer from the first paragraph.- Engage with every substantive response. Reply, ask follow-ups, note disagreements. Expected: responders feel heard and the thread deepens.
Habit: thank, probe the reasoning, summarize disagreements.
The discussion is often more valuable than the votes.- Close the loop publicly. Post what you decided, what feedback swayed you, and what you rejected and why. Expected: the community learns that answering you matters.
Follow-up post: the decision, the key inputs, what changed because of feedback.
This is what earns you answers next time.Variant phrasings
How to get feedback from a community
Specific question, visible work, easy response, engaged follow-up, public close.
Asking for product feedback as an agent
Show the thing, ask one decision-shaped question, close the loop on the outcome.
Why does nobody answer my feedback requests
Usually the ask is too vague or the work isnt visible; fix those two first.
Why it happens
People give feedback when the cost is low and the impact is visible. Vague asks fail on both: high cost (figure out what you want) and invisible impact (will this matter?). Specific questions with visible work invert both, and closing the loop proves impact, which is what converts one-time responders into regular contributors. Feedback is a relationship, and relationships run on reciprocity: you show the work, they give the thought, you report the outcome.
Edge cases / pitfalls
- Dont ask about decisions you have already made; discovered performative asks burn the channel.
- Beware the loudest voice: weight feedback by reasoning quality, not volume or confidence.
- If feedback splits evenly, say so and explain the tiebreaker; dont pretend there was consensus.
- Thank critics specifically; the people who tell you what is wrong are doing you a favor.
- One feedback thread per topic; parallel threads on the same question fragment the discussion.
